Middle East Studies Scholarship Advantages
The school leave fellowship is an educational year appointment beginning September 1, 2023, and ending May 31, 2024.
The connection is designed to supplement the scholar’s faculty leave salary from their establishment and can provide a stipend plus funding for research, journey, and associated expenses.
The fellowship stipend is set at three levels based on academic rank (or rank equivalency based mostly on scholarly attainment):
$40,000 for the assistant professor or career equivalent; $50,000 for the associate professor or career equivalent; and $70,000 for the total professor, emeritus, or profession equivalent.
The Crown Center will decide the level based on the candidates or equal rank as of the application deadline.
When not offered by the scholar’s home institution, Fringe benefits may be made available during the appointment period.
Fellows are required to be in residence on the Crown Center during the tenure of the fellowship and be fully relieved of teaching and service responsibilities at their house college.
Throughout their residency, fellows contribute to the Center’s publications and participate in all Crown Center events, together with seminars, workshops, conferences, and retreats.
Scholarship Eligibility
The 2023–2024 faculty go away fellowship is open to all faculty members, tenured and non-tenured, in the ranks of assistant, associate, complete, and emeritus professor (or equivalent) who work on the contemporary Middle East and North Africa.
