About The University
After becoming independent in 1960, Nigeria had only one university at Ibadan, which was an affiliate of the University of London. The Ashby Commission, set up in 1959 to advise the Government on the needs for tertiary education recommended the establishment of what is today referred to as ‘First Generation Universities’: the University of Ibadan, University of Ife, University of Lagos, and Ahmadu Bello University, Zaria. By the 1970s, the projections of the Ashby Commission report were found to be unrealistic, particularly on student enrollment and course offerings, motivating the establishment of the so-called ‘Second Generation Universities’. By the early 1980s, the Federal Government had attempted to establish a university in each of the then 19 States. The continued demand for tertiary education led to the liberalization of the federal monopoly on establishing universities, allowing the States to establish their own universities.
What is Post UTME Score?
After every UTME exercise, the exam body sets a particular mark {e.g., 120}. This mark is a score a candidate must have or cross to qualify him or her to sit for the chosen school’s POST UTME exercise.
This said mark is announced to all schools to enable them to decide the number of candidates they will admit. After the school’s decision, they announce a particular mark that must not be lower than the mark the UTME body fixed.
Any candidate who crosses the mark set by the UTME body and does not reach the chosen school’s mark is NEVER eligible to sit for the school’s POST UTME.
This mark or score set by the school admission board is known as SCHOOL’S CUT-OFF MARK.
How to Calculate BASUG Aggregate Score
To correctly calculate your aggregate, know that the JAMB Examination is made up of 400 marks, whereas the Bauchi State University, Gadau (BASUG) Post UTME is made of 100 marks.
- Divide your JAMB score by 8,
- Divide your Post UTME score by 2,
- Add up the result.

240/8= 30
80/2= 40
40+ 30= 70

BASUG General Cut Off Mark 2023/2024
For the 2023/2024 academic session, the general Cut Off Mark for all courses at the Bauchi State University, Gadau BASUG is 180 for Degree Programmes.
So, every candidate who chose BASUG in their last Jamb is expected to score a minimum of 180 to be eligible to apply for the post utme form and have a chance to qualify for admission. Failure to score 180 is an automatic disqualification.

BASUG UTME REQUIREMENTS FOR ALL SCIENCE COURSES
As for O’level requirements as seen above, mathematics is a compulsory requirements except for courses like Law, International relations, Psychology, Political Science and Sociology. It is different for UTE subjects because even Accounting and other management courses do not need to write mathematics in their UTME but English is compulsory since it is our mother tongue.
