Shehu Shagari University of Education Sokoto (SSUES) has a long and rich history. Founded in 2021, it is one of the first universities of education established in Nigeria to train teachers.
The university was established to meet the shortage of teachers in Northern Nigeria. It aims to produce high quality teachers, educators and administrators through pre-service and in-service training. SSUES offers undergraduate and postgraduate programs in education, arts and social sciences.

SSUES Admission Requirements
To be admitted as an undergraduate student at Shehu Shagari University of Education Sokoto, you must meet the following requirements:
Minimum Admission Requirements
- Five credits in English Language, Mathematics, and three other subjects in not more than two sittings in the West African Senior School Certificate Examination (WASSCE), National Examination Council (NECO), or its equivalent.
- Must have a minimum of Credit passes (C6) in 5 subjects including English Language and Mathematics.
- Must obtain the required cut-off mark for your chosen course of study for that academic year. The cut-off marks are usually released with the admission lists.
- Must be at least 16 years of age at the time of admission.
- Must meet the University’s additional requirement for certain courses. Some courses may require a pass in certain subjects like Biology, Chemistry, Physics, etc.
- Admission forms can be obtained from the University’s website or admission office. Completed forms with the required documents and credentials must be submitted before the deadline.
