Arthur Jarvis University (AJU) is a private university in Port Harcourt, Nigeria. It was founded in 1962 by Methodist missionaries to provide higher education based on Christian values and ethics. Admission Requirements

To be admitted to Arthur Jarvis University Nigeria, you must meet the following requirements:

Academic Requirements

Applicants must have completed secondary school and earned the West African Senior School Certificate Examination (WASSCE) or its equivalent, the National Examination Council (NECO) with credits in five subjects including English Language, Mathematics and any other two relevant subjects. The minimum cut-off mark is 180. Applicants who have completed high school outside Nigeria must have equivalent qualifications certified by the West African Examination Board.

Age Requirement

Applicants must be at least 16 years of age at the time of admission. There is no upper age limit for admission into Arthur Jarvis University.

Application Procedures

Interested applicants must complete an online application on the university website and submit the following:

  • Original copies of credentials including birth certificate, WASSCE or NECO results, testimonials and reference letters.
  • A 500-word essay on your goals and expectations from studying at Arthur Jarvis University
  • Evidence of English language proficiency such as TOEFL or IELTS for foreign applicants
  • Payment of a non-refundable application fee. The fee can be paid online or at any designated bank.
  • Admission interviews may be required for some programs. Selected applicants will be invited for an interview.
  • Medical tests to determine physical and mental fitness for university education.
  • Two recent passport-sized photographs with full name written on the reverse side

Deadlines

The following application deadlines apply:

  • For the first semester (August to December), applications open on January 1st and close on July 30th.
  • For the second semester (January to April), applications open on August 1st and close on December 30th.

Late applications may be considered on a case by case basis subject to availability of space. Meeting the minimum admission criteria does not guarantee admission into Arthur Jarvis University.

To apply for admission to Arthur Jarvis University (AJU) in Nigeria, follow these steps:

Submit an Application

The first step is to submit an application for admission. You can apply online through AJU’s application portal. Be prepared to provide personal information like your name, address, date of birth as well as details about your academic qualifications.

Pay the Application Fee

There is an application fee of 20,000 Naira or $50 USD for international applicants. The fee can be paid online via credit/debit card or bank transfer. Your application will not be processed until the fee has been paid.

Submit Supporting Documents

You will need to upload scanned copies of several important documents to support your application:

  • Academic transcripts: Submit official transcripts from all secondary schools and higher institutions attended. Transcripts must show all subjects taken and grades obtained.
  • Test scores: For undergraduate admissions, submit scores from standardized tests like WAEC, NECO or JAMB. For postgraduate admissions, submit scores from tests like GRE or GMAT if required for your program.
  • Personal essay: Submit a 300 to 500-word essay on a topic of your choice. The essay should give the admissions committee insight into your personality, talents, accomplishments and goals.

Application Review and Decision

After reviewing your application and supporting documents, the admissions committee will make a decision to accept, reject or place your application on a waiting list. Successful applicants will receive an admission offer letter with details for accepting the offer.
