About the Polytechnic
The Government of Delta State founded the Delta State Polytechnic, Ogwashi-uku (DSPG) on November 12, 2002, through a bill that was then passed into law by the state’s Governor, Chief James Onanefe Ibori. In order to help the school with administration and technical support, the State Government collaborated with the University of Westminster, London. The goal of the multinational partnership is to provide Delta State in Nigeria with the greatest polytechnic education currently available.
The polytechnic officially opened for academic activities on Thursday, January 23, 2003, at a temporary location along the Ubulu-Uku Road in Ogwashi-uku, the political headquarters of the former SPD along Azagba, and some renovated buildings of the former Ogwashi-uku Polytechnic, Azagba Road in Ogwashi-uku, up until December 2004, when the first buildings at the permanent site were finished. The polytechnic was fully relocated to its permanent site
Ten academic staff members attended the DSPG’s first Academic Board meeting on March 6, 2003, and the school’s first matriculation ceremony took place on April 5, 2003.
Four schools were formed at the beginning of the polytechnic to conduct programs in three departments. The four institutions were the Schools of Art and Design, Business Studies, Engineering, and General Studies. The three departments were the Department of Mechanical Engineering, the Department of Fashion Design and Clothing Technology.

Ogwashi-Uku Delta State Polytechnic Prerequisites for Admission into ND.
- For the Post-UTME exam and admission screening process, candidates must meet the DSPG cut-off mark and courses provided.
- Applicants must have a minimum of five credits in relevant disciplines, including English and math, from the GCE O’level, WASSCE, SSCE, NECO, NABTEB, or other recognized equivalents, earned over no more than two (2) sittings.
- Applicants must be at least sixteen (16) years old.
- Satisfy the departmental and faculty standards of Delta State Polytechnic, Ogwashi-Uku before being admitted

Prerequisites for Delta State Polytechnic Ogwashi-Uku HND Admission.
The following requirements must be satisfied in order for an applicant to be taken into consideration for admission to the institution at the HND level:
- A potential applicant for a Higher National Diploma must have a minimum lower credit (CGPA) of 2.50 in an applicable ND program’s National Diploma.
- A candidate for admission into the Higher National Diploma program must already have earned a National Diploma in the same field of study, have earned at least a lower credit in the relevant program of study, and have completed at least one year of relevant industrial training after earning their ND.
- In addition to the aforementioned, a candidate must fulfill the requirements for admission to the ND program.
- Candidates with a passing grade and a minimum of two years of post-qualification experience in the relevant sector may be taken into consideration for admission in exceptional circumstances.
- A minimum of twelve (12) months of supervised industrial experience is required, as is the possession of five (5%) credit passes in the pertinent O-Level courses in no more than two sittings.
- Admission to all HND programs at the polytechnic requires a transcript, especially for candidates from other institutions.
