About The School

Adeyemi College of Education has a rich history dating back to 1964. The college was founded on January 14, 1964, as the fourth college of education established in Nigeria. It was named after Reverend Israel Adeyemi, a pioneer educator.

The college began operations on the old site of St. Luke’s Teachers’ College, which was founded in 1958 by the Anglican Diocese of Lagos and the Western Region Government. In 1965, the Federal Government took over the college. In 1976, the college moved to its permanent site at Ondo.

Over the years, Adeyemi College of Education has grown tremendously in terms of student enrollment and the variety of programs offered. The student population has increased from 200 at inception to over 10,000 students today. The college started with only a 3-year NCE program but now offers degree programs as well, like the Bachelor of Education (B.Ed) in Arts and Sciences, and postgraduate diploma and master’s programs.
