About The School

Bayero University Kano (BUK) is a university that was established in 1975 and was renamed from Bayero University College to Bayero University Kano after it was upgraded from a university college to a university.
It is located in Kano, which is the capital of Kano State, Nigeria. It was the first university to be established in the state of Kano.

Bayero University Kano (BUK) began as Ahmadu Bello College, which was established in January 1960 by the Northern Nigeria Ministry of Education under the leadership of Isa Kaita. BUK is an acronym for Bayero University Kano.

At first, the university intended to focus on preparing students who already held senior secondary certificates for the General Certificate of Education as well as certain Advanced Level courses, such as Arabic, Hausa, Islamic History, Islamic Studies, and English Literature.

Bayero University is well known and respected for its traditions and methods of granting certificates based on character and learning despite the university’s challenging academic environment.

Bayero University Kano Admission Requirements

The following are the prerequisites for admission to Bayero University:

  • Before you may enroll in a program at BUK, you must first obtain a result from your O-level exams (WAEC, NECO, or NABTEB) with at least five credit passes, including English and Mathematics, and this result must be from no more than two (2) sittings.
  • You need to have selected the appropriate JAMB subject combination for your particular program.
  • In order to be considered for the BUK Post UTME and admission screening exercise, you will need to have taken the Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME) and received a score of at least 180.
  • BUK ought to be your first option of educational establishment.
  • If you do not take part in the BUK screening exercise, your application for admission will not be taken into consideration.
  • Last but not least, you need to be at least 16 years old by October of this year and have a grade point average that is higher than the minimum required by the BUK department offering the program you want to take.

The requirements for admission to BUK for Direct entry

The following are the requirements for Direct Entry (DE) candidates to gain admission to Bayero University Kano:

  • Before you may enroll in a program at BUK, you must first obtain a result from your O-level exams (WAEC, NECO, or NABTEB) with at least five credit passes, including English and Mathematics, and this result must be from no more than two (2) sittings.
  • You need to acquire the Direct Entry form from the Joint Admission and Matriculation Board (JAMB) and BUK if you wish to be considered a candidate for Direct Entry.
  • You need to have selected the appropriate JAMB subject combination for your particular program.
    BUK ought to be your first option of educational establishment.
  • If you do not take part in the BUK screening exercise, your application for admission will not be taken into consideration.
  • You need to be 16 years old by October of this year to be eligible to apply.
  • BUK will accept applicants with a First Class Degree, a Second Class Degree, or Upper credit in disciplines that are connected to their studies.
  • BUK will also accept, depending on the course, a minimum grade of Merit Pass in either the National Certificate of Education (NCE) or the National Diploma (ND), as well as other Advanced Level Certificates.
    Results from JUPEB and IJMB A’level exams are sometimes accepted by BUK; however, you need to have done well on either exam before applying.

Bayero University Cut Off Mark

This is to inform all prospective students of Bayero University, Kano (BUK) that the University has set the cut-off points for programs in the Faculties of Clinical Sciences and Dentistry at 240 and above, Pharmaceutical Sciences at 230 and above, while the Faculties of Allied Health Sciences and Law have their cut off points starting from 200 and above.

The minimum score required for admission into programs offered by other faculties is 180. Agriculture, the Arts, Islamic Studies, Basic Medical Sciences, Communication, Computer Science and Information Technology, Earth and Environmental Sciences, Education, and Engineering are the subjects that make up this list.

Other areas of study include the Physical Sciences, Social Sciences, Management Sciences, and Life Sciences.

Bayero University School Fees

For the 2023/2024 academic session, the tuition price at BUK will be set at N33,000 for both BUK indigenes and non-indigenes alike.

Note: In order for students to avoid having their academic work interrupted, it is strongly recommended that they pay their school fees on time.
