About the school
The Federal College of Education zaria is a College of Science and Art that is located in Zaria, Nigeria. In November of 1962, the government of Nigeria’s Northern Region, which was in power at the time, founded it. Initially, it was known as Northern Secondary Teachers College, but it later changed its name to Advanced Teachers’ College Zaria. Up until 1991, Ahmadu Bello University Zaria was in charge of the college’s administration and policymaking.The institution was first situated at the location that is now known as Nuhu Bamalli Polytechnic (Annex), but in 1973 it was relocated to Gyallesu, which is directly across from Ahmadu Bello University’s Kongo Campus in Zaria.After some time, it was separated from the African Business University in Zaria and rebranded as the Federal College of Education in Zaria. The People’s Democratic Party (PDP) government transformed it into a University of Education in May of 2015, along with a number of other colleges across the country. In the latter part of August of the same year, the administration of the APC reversed the conversion to its previous status as the Federal College of Education, Zaria, which included all of the other institutions.
