Federal Polytechnic OKO Courses and Admission Requirements

About the Polytechnic

Oko town in Anambra State’s Orumba North Local Government is home to the polytechnic.

The Oko Progressive Union (OPU) had the idea for what would eventually become the polytechnic, and Dr. Alex Ekwueme, a former executive vice president of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, served as its first chairman. Ekwueme’s patronage, resourcefulness, and focus on results greatly aided the OPU’s development.

The General Certificate in Education (GCE) examinations are offered at both the ordinary and advanced levels, and the institution was established in 1979 with the Anambra State Government’s approval as a College of Arts and Science.

The institution received a name change on June 28, 1980, becoming the College of Arts, Science, and Technology. This change made the institution more appealing to young school-leavers, who flocked there in droves to pursue the higher certificate that the School could then grant.

Federal Polytechnic OKO

Ultimately, the Federal Government took control of the State Polytechnic in 1993 and renamed it Federal Polytechnic, Oko.

There are three (3) campuses for the Polytechnic.
