About The School

CRUTECH, also known as the Cross River State University of Technology, is a state-owned university that was established in 2002 and is run by the Cross River State government.

The institution was founded as a technical college that educates Nigerian students in a variety of scientific and technological fields.

The Polytechnic of Calabar, The College of Education, and Ibrahim Babangida College of Agriculture were combined by Governor Donald Duke in 2002.

It provides a range of degrees in a number of fields of study, including pre-bachelor, bachelor’s, master’s, and doctorate degrees.

There are currently campuses for the university in Calabar, Obubra, Ogoja, and Okuku.

To gain admission into CRUTECH as an undergraduate, you must have the requisite qualifications such as a minimum of five credits in not more than two sittings in SSCE/NECO/GCE O’Level or its equivalent, including English Language and Mathematics. Candidates are admitted based on their scores in the Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME).

Postgraduate Programs Available at CRUTECH

CRUTECH offers several postgraduate programs for students to further their education.

Master’s Degree Programs

CRUTECH offers master’s degrees in over 20 areas of study, including:

Master of Science (M.Sc.) in fields such as Computer Science, Environmental Science, and Fisheries
Master of Business Administration (MBA) to advance business and leadership skills
Master of Arts (MA) in English, History, and Philosophy
Master of Education (M.Ed.) for aspiring educators and administrators

Admission into these programs requires a bachelor’s degree with a minimum of second-class upper division from CRUTECH or another approved university. Strong academic records and scores on postgraduate entrance exams are also expected.

Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D.) Programs

CRUTECH offers Ph.D. programs in over 10 areas for highly qualified candidates interested in advanced research and academia. Programs include:

Admission requires a master’s degree in a related field of study with a minimum CGPA of 3.5/4.0, in addition to meeting other criteria. Candidates must demonstrate strong research skills and potential for contributing to their field.

Admission Requirements for CRUTECH

To gain admission into Cross River University of Science and Technology (CRUTECH), you must meet the following requirements:

Educational Requirements

You must have at least five credits in relevant subjects at the Senior Secondary School Certificate Examination (SSSCE), National Examination Council (NECO), or General Certificate of Education (GCE) Ordinary Level. The subjects must include English Language, Mathematics, Physics, and Chemistry.

Age Requirement

Applicants must be at least 16 years of age at the time of admission. There is no maximum age limit for admission into CRUTECH.

Application Fees

To apply for admission into CRUTECH, you must purchase an application form, either online or in person at a designated bank, for a non-refundable fee of N10,000. Submit the completed form with two passport photographs and photocopies of your credentials.

Aptitude Test

All applicants are required to take the CRUTECH Post-Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (Post-UTME) screening exercise, regardless of meeting the cut-off mark. The Post-UTME aptitude test aims to further assess candidates’ suitability for their chosen course of study.

Physical Fitness

Applicants must be physically fit for their selected courses. Nursing, Medical Laboratory Science, Agriculture, and Faculty of Education students may be subjected to additional physical fitness tests.
