About The School

Abia State University (ABSU) was established in 1981 by the then Governor of Abia State, Sam Mbakwe. The university was originally named Imo State University, Uturu, but was later renamed Abia State University in 1991 following the creation of Abia State. ABSU started with just four faculties: Business Administration, Humanities, Law, and Science. Today, the university has grown to include ten faculties, including Education, Environmental Studies, Engineering, Medicine, and Social Sciences.

ABSU has a rich history of academic excellence. The university has produced several notable alumni who have made significant contributions in various fields both in Nigeria and abroad. ABSU Admission Requirements and Processes

To be admitted into Abia State University, applicants must meet certain requirements. These requirements vary depending on the program and level of study.

  • Possess a minimum of five (5) credit passes in relevant subjects, including Mathematics and English Language, at the Senior Secondary School Certificate Examination (SSCE) or its equivalent.
  • Meet the departmental and faculty requirements for the chosen course of study.
  • Score a minimum of 180 in the Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME) and choose the University of maiduguri as their first choice institution.
  • Participate in the University’s screening exercise and obtain a satisfactory score.

ABSU School Fees
